“Fashion is for Anyone, Style is Personal”
One of the biggest misconceptions that I hear about wardrobe building is that it will cost money! OK, it is a great excuse to go shopping, but is should start with what you already have in your closet, and the real purpose is to discover and honour that personal energy signature that makes you, YOU!
It just so happens that this works in wondrous ways through our wardrobe. As a matter of fact, shopping your closet is a great way to get an insightful look into your life, and it’s the first place to start when looking at making changes. So, in truth, whether you decide to shop your closet, buy at the thrift store, or at a high end retail outlet, it really is about learning to use your wardrobe to reflect your inner fashionista and align you with your true essence.
You feel good in some clothing and not in others, right? Well, it’s more than what you see in the mirror. It’s an emotional experience, a true and deep emotional connection we make with how we “feel”. Are you aligned with your personal energies or does something feel off? Are there things in your life that feel out of alignment?
How is that energy reflected in your closet? Is it cluttered, full of clothes that are worn out or don’t fit properly? Feng Shui proposes that aligning the energy of your surroundings will align the energies in your life. As Evana Maggiore of Fashion Feng Shui writes, your clothing is the most intimate environment you can create. You carry this energy with you everywhere you go; there is no better place to start making changes in your life!
When you understand the power that dressing in line with your personal signature carries, you can use it to bring your life into balance and, be one step closer to living your intention and attracting other like minded people into your life.
I want you to take a minute, close your eyes. Now, Imagine yourself dressed in the perfect outfit for you. Imagine how that makes you feel. You stand straighter, you look confident. Now I want you to notice the smile on your face. You have the power hanging in your closet, why not use it?

COLOUR CONNECTIONS
Color is all around us. We often do not appreciate or understand why we are drawn to some colors and dislike others. Many of our color preferences are acquired through personal experiences and often times unrealized psychological connections. We can learn a lot about ourselves through examining the colors that are prominent in our lives. We can also use color to direct focus in our lives. We can use it to instill confidence, to heal, and to find emotional balance.
We may not realize the power that color has over us in our daily lives, but it is one way that advertisers and retail stores use to peak our interest and inspire emotional connections to their products. When considering changing or establishing an image for your business, color and design both in the logo and in your office can make or break your business. Consider the businesses you frequent, are the colors warm and inviting, bright and inspiring, or are they calm and safe? The color and design should suit your business as well as help attract your desired target market.
Knowing how color can work for you in your image is important, as it can also work against you. Colors that are too strong for your features will overpower you and can sometimes overwhelm you. You can use color to stand out in a crowd or blend into the woodwork. You can use it to disguise or create the illusion of height, depth, or size.
The color pigment in your skin holds the key to choosing the best color range for you to wear. An image consultant trained in color analysis can help you to determine your best colors. Makeup is also one of the most important things to consider in this way, as it is going right on to the skin. Wearing makeup is something that many shy away from, but, achieving a barely there, polished look, is really just learning proper application. The key word is BLEND. Once you know the color palette that works best for you, it will take the guesswork out of choosing the right makeup. Even the color of our foundation can make the difference between looking tired and having a healthy glow.
Color in our wardrobe doesn’t only affect how we feel and perceive ourselves, but how others perceive us as well. Not all color associations are positive, nor are they necessarily appropriate for the image we want to portray. Following is a list of some color associations we often have.
Red = daring, sexy, love, passion, power, anger
Pink = soft, feminine, romantic, affection
Orange = creative, fun, confidence, sporty
Yellow = joy, clarity, fresh, optimism, open minded
Green = growth, comfort, strength, abundance
Blue = calm, peace, authority, open communication
Navy = commanding, serene, quiet authority
Purple = spiritual, truth, creativity, transformation, royalty
White = pure, clean, new life
Black = powerful, elegant, death
This is merely an introduction to the influence that color has in our daily lives. Experiment with different colors, notice how they look on you and how they make you feel. Learn what colors suit you the best, and make the most of them in your wardrobe, and in your life.
Your True Colours
Colour is all around us. We often do not appreciate or understand why we are drawn to some colours yet we dislike others. We acquire many of our colour preferences through personal experiences and, often times, unrealized psychological connections. We can learn a lot about ourselves through examining the colours that are prominent in our lives. We can also use colour to direct focus in our lives. We can use it to instill confidence, to heal, and to find emotional balance.
The colours we use to surround ourselves everyday, in our homes and offices, have a powerful impact on how we feel. Knowing how colour can work for you in your daily life is important, because colour can also work against you. Colours that are too strong for you can overwhelm you. Some colours call you to action and some allow you to rest.
The colour pigment in your skin holds the key to choosing the best colours for you to use in many areas of your life. Therefore, the colour of our makeup is one of the most important things to consider. Once you know the colour palette that works best for you, it will take the guesswork out of choosing the right shades of makeup. The colour of our foundation alone can make the difference between looking tired and in having a healthy glow.
Working from your personal colour palette can help you determine what your power colour is and what clothes to keep in your wardrobe. Choosing appropriate colours for our wardrobe is very important in looking and feeling healthy. The colours we choose not only affect how we feel and perceive ourselves, but also how others perceive us.
Not all colour associations are positive, nor are they necessarily appropriate for the image we want to portray. You can use colour to stand out in a crowd, or to blend into the woodwork. You can use it to disguise or emphasize height, depth, or size. The colours you surround yourself with can take you from confident and outgoing, to relaxed and at peace.
Experiment with different colours; notice how they look on you and how they make you feel. Learn what colours suit you best, and make the most of them in your wardrobe, and in your life.
WHAT YOUR BUSINESS IS MISSING!
The way others perceive you and your business is key to how they relate to you. The name of your business is very important decision to make. Does it tell the public what you do? Is it memorable, does it fit your business? It's a big decision, but it shouldn't stop there!
The next step is developing a logo that will be your calling card, and hopefully a recognised symbol that will transcend the written word and represent your company for years to come. Think about all the big companies that you know of that could just show their logo and nothing else would even need to be said? Think of all the restaurants and car symbols that you would know, just from their logo. These are designs that have been developed and researched to grab the eye and stand out from everyone else. They also are meant to attract the ideal customer.
If you don't have a logo, you are not presenting a professional image to your clients. If you do, does it represent who you are? Do the colors and shapes invite or push away potential clients? Designers have used key elements, colours and phrases for many years to attract the ideal customers for their clients.
One of the first things you should do when starting a new business or even if you are considering revamping your image, is to assess who your ideal client is. This should be done anytime you want to launch a new project or product as well. What colours and shapes are appealing to them? How can you use your branding to attract your ideal client? Bold, bright colours grab people's attention, and your message should match that energy. Be careful how much intensity you use, as it may feel like you are yelling at your clients. Earth tones are great for a more subtle message. Bright yellow and orange say friendly, happy, and fun. Straight lines are serious and solid, round shapes are softer. mobile and easy going. What fits your ideal image? Do you want to appear to be confident and strong or easy going and flexible?
Your relationship with your customer, or potential customer, all starts with how your image, brand and business makes them "feel" about you. Does it somehow connect with them, on some level? Trust and confidence can be bred into your business through your name, color choices, logo and marketing. Statistics show that subsequent sales are based on how the customer felt about the experience, more than the value of the item itself. Most people buy from the perspective of what "feels" like the right decision. You can weigh all the pros and cons, but if it doesn't fit what you really want, or it just doesn't feel right; you will continue to weigh it out.
Your image basically is a form of energy, perceived by the brain and interpreted as one thing...your business. If you want to design a successful business, this is one thing you can't afford to just leave to chance. Consistency is very important once you start any marketing, so get your colors, design and logo in place before you run off to print those brochures and business cards!
How are you WIRED?
Interesting how we talk about change and acceptance of change, but do we know and accept how we are hard wired? We talk about programming and how we can "re-program" our thoughts and outcomes, but do we accept and understand the part of us that we can't change?
We are learning that acceptance of who we are is vital to the way we learn and the way we operate. Yes, we can modify and change how we relate to each other, how we run our business, but to really be successful, we need to learn how to work in alignment to our basic "true" selves, our authentic selves.
If you aren't working true to who you are and your inner instincts, things may not feel in sync, it just won't feel right. How many times have you heard the words, followed the prescription and still, the program still isn't getting you the desired results? Whether it's weight loss, business planning or finding the "right" partner, we can read and make all the right moves, but still not see the desired results.
It comes down to 3 things...
1. Are we aligned with our "true" essence? Are we working from the place of connection to our inner self, and honouring it?
2. Do we love and accept who we are in every way. Can you look in the mirror and say. "I love you, I really love everything about you"?
The third is a combination of the above, and comes easily if the first two are in place...
3. Is our goal aligned with our true essence? Every goal is attainable, but where is it coming from, and do you feel you are worthy and deserving of it? Make the connection from your inner being, accept it as though it is already part of your being.
Do you struggle to align with your inner self? Do you recognise what you need to do to find that place? Do you recognize the difference between who you are, and what you want in life? Do you feel stuck and unsure how to move forward?
